Nathan Florence on John John: “He gave the best performance we ever saw at Backdoor”
“I want to emphasize how hard his clinic was, you catch one or two amazing waves like that at Backdoor, but not eight in a row,” he added.
In the latest edition of his Vlog, Nathan Florence, the middle brother of the three in the family of two-time world champion John John, dedicated praise and more praise to his older brother's performance.
“He put on the best performance we’ve ever seen at Backdoor,” he said, adding: “I want to stress how heavy his clinic was – you catch one or two amazing waves like that at Backdoor, but not eight in a row.”
“We’re talking about manipulating and navigating the crowd, reading the ocean, combined with being the best surfer in the world… And that’s what you get: Eight incredible waves in one session,” he explained.
“I sat out there for about four hours and it was crazy and inspiring to watch. The waves did their job with me so at the time it was pretty upsetting to see him surfing so many good waves,” said Nathan Florence.
The video shows several good waves, in a crowd that included the best in the world at Pipe, including Nathan himself, Jack Robinson, Jamie O'Brien... And John John's ride is truly out of this world.
