Ramón Navarro and Natxo González nominated for the best wave of the year

The WSL has released the list of nominees for the big wave awards. Tubes at Cloudbreak and Nazaré put the Chilean and the Basque on the final list


Chilean Ramón Navarro and Basque Natxo González appear on the final list of five nominees for the main prize for the best big wave surfed at the WSL Big Wave Awards, the organization has just announced in a press release.

Navarro and Gonzalez, who scored tubes at Cloudbreak and Nazaré respectively, will compete against Twiggy Baker, Billy Kemper and Kai Lenny for three respective waves surfed at Jaws, Hawaii during the World Big Wave Tour leg.

The awards will be presented on May 2 at the BeachLife Festival in Redondo Beach, California.

The winner of the category in which Ramón and Natxo compete takes home the biggest prize of the night: $65.000. Second place gets $17.000, third place $10.000, fourth place $6.000, and fifth place $4.000.
