Ramón Navarro, Gabriel Villarán and Axi Muniain are on the list of the new Eddie
The quintessential big wave event announced its return for this season with new sponsors

Chilean Ramón Navarro, Peruvian Gabriel Villarán and Basque Axi Muniain appear on the guest list of the new generation of the event in memory of Eddie Aikau, which announced its return yesterday with new sponsors, according to several Hawaiian media reports.
After two years in which the Aikau family failed to come to an understanding with the Quiksilver brand, they went their separate ways and the event was left wanting but without the money, this year the announcement is made with a different tone.
“This is the most prestigious surfing event in the world and we didn’t want to compromise Eddie’s integrity by doing something that wasn’t quality,” family member Cynthia Scrima told the Associated Press. New sponsors include Kamehameha Schools, Waimea Valley and the Office of Hawaiian Affairs. “The Aikaus have new sponsors to celebrate and honor the life of our brother Eddie,” Solomon Aikau said, as quoted by Surfline.
The opening ceremony will take place on Thursday, November 29. The waiting period runs from December 1 to February 28.
