Reef Heazlewood wins the Australian Surf Web Series
Aerial kills double tube in the grand final against Sheldon Simkus

With a high straight aerial, Reef Heazlewood defeated a double tube floater performed by Sheldon Simkus in the grand final of the Surf Web Series Australia, the sixth stage of the online world surfing tour.
As happened with Sebastián Williams in Mexico and unlike what had been happening in previous stages, the judges decided to pay more for the maneuvers than the tubes.
Simkus used this strategy throughout the event, interestingly in round 1 Simkus beat him with a tube in that series (in which Heazlewood did a combo of maneuvers) but the two advanced defeating Dylan Moffat and Wesley Morais.
Then in round 3, also doing a combo of maneuvers, he came in second, behind a tube by Brent Dorrington and leaving Jack Reginato in third. The same happened to him in round 4, finishing behind Thomas Carvalho (who did a tube), but with a combo of maneuvers he beat Billy Kean and Aidan Lewan-Parsons.
Once in the quarter-finals he won with a very good aerial to a pipe by Liam O'Brien and then in the semis he met Thomas Carvalho again and won with a fairly high alley oop to a pipe.
The tour now continues through the Peruvian waves, starting on January 5th.
