After completing 12 series in fun waves between half a metre and one metre with good wind conditions, the best 32 of the Rip Curl Pro Mar del Plata were defined, which saw its historic return after two years of pandemic.

The majority of Brazilian surfers advanced after the round of 56 and 48, and of the 32 surfers remaining in the competition, 19 are green-yellow.

Although there were more than one exception, such as the author of the second best score of the day, the Chilean Roberto Araki, who added 14,25 to leave Luan Carvalho in second place, the local talent Franco Radziunas in third place and Nicolás Hermida, also local, who had just made a good performance in the previous round, in fourth place.

The best score of the day was achieved by the Brazilian Cauá Costa who added 15,90 to beat Alex Soarez, Caio Costa and another local talent, Juan Ruggiero.

Other Latin American highlights at the event were Chileans Noel de la Torre, Guga Dvorquez, Joaquín Reyes and Manuel Selman (in addition to the aforementioned Araki), and local Julián Honores.

The early qualification of Joaquín del Castillo and Raúl Ríos from Peru, Lolo Bellorin from Venezuela and the aforementioned locals Ruggiero and Radziunas was surprising.

The following round of 32 series are expected to go into the water tomorrow:
