Slater to compete at Lowers CT

"This is a different experience for me, since I'm the least favorite," declared the best in history who will also sponsor the event with his brand on its tenth anniversary.

Eleven-time world champion Kelly Slater will compete in Stage 11 of the CT at Lower Trestles, which takes place between June 8 and 9, the WSL has just announced.

“I’m excited to be surfing Lowers after a few months off with family and watching events online,” Slater said. “Surfing this event makes perfect sense since Outerknown is sponsoring it and celebrating our 35th anniversary. Trestles has been a great memory for the past XNUMX years, ever since I won my first event as a pro there, had several major wins during the Tour, and it’s my girlfriend’s hometown and my second home. So I’m really looking forward to competing as a wildcard and surfing against one or two of the top qualifiers right away. At Outerknown, we do things a little differently, and this is a different experience for me, as the underdog. I’m honored and excited to be competing next month.”

Kelly will face the first stage of the mid-year cut against seeding 1, which could be Jordy Smith or Italo Ferreira depending on Margaret's result.

The Outerknown-sponsored event will feature various activations.

“We are proud to partner with the WSL and the Lexus Trestles Pro at such a significant moment for Outerknown, as we celebrate 10 years since our founding,” said Dylan Slater, CEO of Outerknown. “Additionally, surf fans will be able to see Kelly compete on a wave that was instrumental in shaping her legendary career. It’s about uniting the surf community for a special experience, one we are honored to be a part of.”

Slater is the competitor with the best record of results in the event.
