Steph Gilmore will not be at CT 2024
Sally Fitzgibbons wins full CT spot, Luana Silva enters for the challengers and now the new replacement is Sophie McCulloch
Australian Stephanie Gilmore will not be at the 2024 CT, the WSL announced in a recently sent press release.
According to her, the eight-time world champion will be taking a sabbatical year, taking advantage of the opportunity to travel, recover her fitness and prepare to return in 2025.
Gilmore's withdrawal means that she will be replaced by the first person to be left out of the 2023 CT, Sally Fitzgibbons. As she qualified through the challenger series, she made room for Luana Silva (the first person not to qualify through the CS, chosen as the first replacement).
Because of this, the WSL chose Australian Sophie McCulloch as the first replacement of the season; a position that will surely put her on the tour given the announced retirement of Carissa Moore.
