What does Brisa Hennessy need to guarantee herself a place in the finals?

These are the scenarios

Costa Rican Brisa Hennessy is third in the rankings and already has one foot in the WSL finals.

She has 41630 points that will become 44240 just by touching the water and taking the last position in the event, which is ninth.

This scenario is very favorable for Brisa because she needs three surfers to move her to sixth and she is already quite far ahead of her runners-up in the ranking, especially from sixth onwards.

Brisa has 41630 and Defay, in sixth, has 37255. In fourth is Molly Picklum with 39390 and in fifth Gabriela Bryan with 38595.

Then there is, almost out of the running to dethrone Brisa, the Brazilian Tatiana Weston Webb who has 35100.

Translating, this means that if you miss a Breeze, and dial 44240

-Tatiana can only catch up with Brisa by winning.

-Defay catches up with her coming out in second place

-Bryan catches up with her coming out in third place

This would be the worst scenario for Costa Rica. It could have several combinations. For example, if Defay becomes champion and Bryan third and Picklum second.

If Brisa reaches the quarterfinals, it will make life difficult for the rest:

-Tatiana wouldn't catch up with her even if she won.

-Defay would only reach her by winning the event

-Gabriela Bryan would reach her by placing second or better

-Molly Picklum would catch up with her by placing second or better

What happens is that only two surfers can place first or second, so by finishing fifth, that is, reaching the quarterfinals, Brisa is already guaranteed a place in the finals and the worst thing that can happen to her is going to Lowers in fifth place.

This would happen if either Johanne Defay or Gabriela Bryan or Molly Picklum placed first or second.

The WSL Finals will take place between September 6 and 14.
