The charm of La Encantada de Villa

Seba and Alonso Correa, Cristobal de Col and friends tell the world that the south of Lima has its own vibrant Puerto Escondido

The south of Lima is much more than Caballeros, Señoritas, Punta Rocas and La Isla, among all the many breaks that there are on one of the richest coasts in waves in the entire world.

La Encantada de Villa has violent, heavy, difficult tubes, but when you find the exit, they are worth gold.

And, although waves abound in the area, it is not easy to find tubes “a la” Puerto Escondido in that area, Villa gives them left and right.

Locals like Sebastián and Alonso Correa, Cristobal de Col have taken their tubes surfing in front of his house.

Seba Correa himself told DUKE for this article: “Villa is like the port of Lima, few people look at it in general but it has its epic days. With Cristóbal we are starting to run it bigger and bigger. The other time we ran it about three and a half meters, this time it was a little smaller but perfect. Since we live there we always look at it and it has some crazy days. The coolest thing is that almost always only the people from the neighborhood run it, and maybe one or two more.”

For this day, Correa judged that his younger brother took the wave of the day although his (the cover photo) was the heaviest… “But I didn't come out (laughs),” he said.

That day, both he and Cristobal de Col himself took to the board. Joaquín Maugere, Giulano Giunta and Alessio Botteri also attended the session.

Sebastián, who is one of the best and most outstanding freesurfers on the planet, dared to say that Villa is “one of the heaviest in Lima”… Coming from a person who surfed Jaws and Waimea, who goes down Pico Alto and Pipe, this is no small statement.

Alonso Correa in two steps... What does this wave owe to Puerto?
Alonso Correa, piped up to his neck in front of his house, enchanted by the Encantada de Villa.
Cristobal de Col is used to surfing the heaviest waves in the world but he did not hesitate to say that "Villa rules" and that Villa took its toll on him.
Giulano Giunta didn't go to this one and he must have thought more than once that he should have gone, but he recovered with the next one. A surfer at heart, he doesn't quit his job, he keeps going...
And it fits into this bombshell.
Almost below the sea level, Joaquín Maugere, addresses the charm of Villa's Encantada with style and colour.
For rippers like Alonso Correa there was room to fly.
A friendlier one for respected windsurfer Alessio Botteri.
Villa's sea is not a friendly one.
And Alonso makes it clear here.
And here too.
It looks like a nice wave, but it isn't.
