The statistics are against the American; the historical implications if she wins this year

Avalon Gall, who qualified for the finals in El Salvador for the first time and who had already done a couple of preparation sessions, showed good chemistry with the wave at El Sunzal.

The problem for the American player is that the statistics are against her.

Never in the history of WSL and ISA events held in El Sunzal has a goofy footer, male or female, won.

The champions were:
WSL 2023: Soleil Errico and Kaniela Stewart
WSL 2024: Rachael Tilly and Taylor Jensen

ISA 2023: Alice Lemoigne and Antoine Delpero
ISA 2024: Honolua Blomfield and Kai Sallas
ISA 2025: Rachael Tilly and Edouard Delpero

This puts Avalon with the statistics against them.

The best goofy footer in a WSL at El Sunzal was Kelis Kaleopaa who finished second in 2023.

And, of the 16 competitors in the event, the threat is great because there are five regulars and three goofies, or actually five regulars and two goofies who are going to challenge Avalon.

On the men's side, the proportion is the same: five regulars versus three goofies.
