The Maui Pro will not end in Honolua
WSL looking for alternative option within Hawaii to finish event
The Maui Pro will not finish at Honolua Bay, the WSL announced on its website and social media, and they are looking for an alternate location in Hawaii to hold the four remaining heats of the event.
A shark attack took place at the legendary Hawaiian wave on the morning of Tuesday, December 8, when the event was due to end. That day it was cancelled and then, yesterday, it was announced that after speaking with authorities and surfers they made the aforementioned decision.
On social media they have stated that perhaps the last series will be held in Pipe, where they already have everything set up because the Pipe Masters is being held.
The 56-year-old surfer who was attacked and taken to hospital has reportedly died from injuries sustained in the attack.
