Noronha's QS 5000 has been suspended
There are now two stages left to define the members of the Challenger Series for South America: Señoritas and Floripa
The Hang Loose Pro Contest, QS 5000, scheduled to take place between March 12 and 17, has been postponed to an as yet undisclosed date that the WSL estimates will be at the end of 2024, the organization reported in a statement sent to competitors.
The news is a cold shower for all those who had not participated in the Saquarema QS, the only 5000m of the season that coincided with the Santa Catalina Pan American, which leaves them with no chance of having a 5000m in their score line.
“With this change of date, the 2023/2024 men's regional ranking will now include the four best results of the season, while the women's ranking will continue to include the five best results, to define the 7 men (+1) and the 3 women (+1) who qualify for the 2024 Challenger Series,” the statement said.
Thus, there are two events left from now on for the regional ranking that classifies for the challenger series: The Señoritas Open Pro QS 1000 between February 14 and 17 and the Layback Pro Floripa QS 3000 between March 6 and 10.
The men's top 20 right now is as follows:
