The six who started the world circuit the worst

A look at what's happening way down in the rankings

It should be considered that, based on the current ranking, the eight men in Round 1 have a lower score if they lose than if they lose in Round 2 while being pre-qualified.

In other words, there are surfers from Round 1 who advanced through heats and perhaps from Round 2 who didn't advance at all, but they appear lower in the rankings. For obvious reasons: Being pre-qualified in Round 2 and losing one heat is better than winning two heats in Round 1.

In other words, there are male surfers who have won series and others who haven't won any, in round 2 but the former have a worse ranking.

Below is the summary

Men
1st: Oscar Berry – 1500 points – Did not advance past any competition series

He became known for his talent in free surfing and competitions, but also for doing a shoey when his qualification was announced.

With the exception of his first stage, in which he scored 6,3 to lose to Dane Henry, it's not that he had such bad performances, then he scored 12,4 against Willcox and 11,27 against Callum Robson.

2: Ramzi Boukhiam – 2000 points – Passed a series
The Moroccan managed to advance one of the three series he played, at Margaret River, and lost one at Bells and Snappers.

He scored 12 points against Luke Thompson, who had 14,67 and 12,93 against Morgan Cibilic's 13,10. At Margaret River he got his revenge against Thompson but then lost to Italo Ferreira who had 0,14 more: 13,47 to 13,33.

In the end it's a bad start but overall the Moroccan did well.

3: Luke Thompson – 2500 points – Passed two round 1 series
The South African couldn't beat Ramzi at Margaret River, scoring 11,17 in that series. He managed to get through round 1 at Bells and Gold Coast but lost in round 2 to Jordy, scoring 12,33, and to Italo, 12,5 to 10,66.

Another one who didn't score low but needs more.

Ladies: Brisa, Bella, and Tya – The only three who didn't make it through a series
The trio made up of Costa Rican Brissa Hennessy, Bella Kenworthy and Tya Zebrowski failed to advance past round 1 in any stage of the Australian leg, but there were differences in their results.

Bella: 10,67 + 9,5 + 11,6 = 31,77

Breeze: 9,1 + 9,33 + 12,10 = 30,43

Tya: 12,16 + 10,93 + 12,1 = 35,19

By a narrow margin against Kenworthy, Hennessy is having the worst start to the season of the three.

Especially considering that the Costa Rican surfer faced a lower-ranked surfer twice, such as rookie Yolanda Hopkins, who beat her twice; and once against Vahine Fierro.

Bella got Nadia, Kika Veselko and Sally Fitzgibbons for her part.
And to Tya, Alyssa Spencer, Sally Fitzgibbons and Carissa Moore.
