The great tube of the month: The madness of Kauli Vaast in Teahupoo

"The craziest trip of my life," he said it was. The first thing he did that day was go looking for this bomb with his brother, waited an hour and lived to tell the tale.

“Sometimes you just need one wave! Special thanks to my little brother Naiki Vaast for putting me in the perfect spot! Craziest ride of my life. 5:50am, still dark and I asked Naiki if he could tow me in “just one please”. He said “come on”. “We waited for 1 hour and that wave came! I started to get into the wave and I remember yelling at him “are you sure we’re not too deep?” and he just said “Veeeee!” I almost fell XNUMX times on the wave but still made it! Super happy right now!” is how Kauli described her incredible wave from a few days ago at her home in the mega swell that broke there.

Vaast had just returned from surfing one-metre waves in Ballito, Africa to take on this crazy ride in one of the most dangerous spots on the planet.

It was one of the best tubes in recent years on the wave.
