The tube of the month: Marco Giorgi "re intense" in Noronha
"That tube was really incredible," says the Uruguayan who describes in the article how he ended up inside this Brazilian cavern. Presented by: Capi Bar
This is how the protagonist himself described the wave: “That tube was incredible, really. I arrived in Brazil, and I don’t know, I remembered the last time I went there that there were more tubes in Noronha. And the waves were very good. There were good moments but few tubes.
I caught a good right-hand tube at the beginning of the week and it seems that, I don't know, Noronha is a more difficult wave for backside, I think, I saw a lot of Goofy catching good lefts, good tubes, and I had that in my head: 'I want to go with a good left, I want to go with a good left', and that day, the Monday after the championship, after I lost, I went to the airport to see if I could change the ticket and in the end I said no, the forecast started to improve for Monday and I said to myself: 'I'll stay and take advantage'.
On Monday we got up early and the sea was incredible. I swear, it looked like a Brazilian Pipeline. The wave has a rock behind it that breaks and comes like Banzai like when it's big, it breaks back really foamy and bends like this, waaa! And it barrels down. Damn, there were some nice waves.
We were there on that wave, everyone was respecting each other, the crowd was very calm and he came to me, Deivid Silva paddled and I came paddling from behind, and it was like I was underneath him, deeper, lower, and when he saw that I paddled, he didn't even paddle.
I didn’t even paddle it out, because it was two strokes and boom, I was already in the grab. The wave is super fast in Noronha, even though it looks like it’s going to open and it’s like waaa. I grabbed it like this and I pumped it forward like this because I saw that I had thrown myself with everything, I passed a foamball and I saw that it was closing in on me and I didn’t know if I was going to make it. I pulled it out with the tips of my toes. Wow, it was all really fast, really intense and I thought I wasn’t going to make it, how cool!”
