Pipe of the month reported: Santi Medeiro in Pipe

“I don't believe it, I don't believe it,” the Uruguayan repeated, telling DUKE about his experience.

Uruguayan Santi Medeiro's tube ride at Pipe a few weeks ago could have been considered one of the best of the beginning of the Hawaiian winter if it hadn't been for that resounding exit that knocked him off the board due to the violent spit that Pipe makes.

But in the end he ended up perhaps being more famous, or going around the world more precisely because he demonstrated the strength and speed that Pipe generates and how difficult it is to control all the elements.

Medeiro has shared several successful rides at Pipe, but ultimately the best wave he ever rode was this one. The tube is heavy, big and very deep.

Surfline shared it, Volcom's official account did too, and Kookslams shared it with their two million followers. It's a slam, but it's not kook-like at all.

True to the saying that waves can change your life… Santiago's surfing on that wave opened doors for him, the people at Volcom International look at him in a different light, the locals at Pipe too, and those doors that opened for him ended up extending the stay that he had planned to end soon.

“A couple of surfers congratulated me, saying it was incredible that I had caught that wave after surfing there a month ago,” he says, and insists, repeating: “I don’t believe it, I don’t believe it.”

The video tells all the details of this wild surfing.
