The week of the search

Five clips of perfect waves, weird waves, cold waves and a few thumps

Note sponsored by Rip Curl Argentina

This week, Rip Curl looked back at some of the most significant moments in the history of The Search, from standing up tube riding in a river in Indonesia to discovering an impressive wave that "doesn't look like a pool," to moments of blows and strange surfing between icebergs.

Below you can follow each of the expeditions with Mick Faning, Mason Ho, Bruno Santos and Gabriel Medina, among others.

The 7 ghosts

A sudden change of tide causes this wave to be generated in a river somewhere in Indonesia.

On this expedition Tom Curren, Bruno Santos, Dean Brady, Oney Anwar and Tyler Larronde took on the wave and took some of the best river tubes ever surfed in history.

The blows of the search

Occupational hazards: searching for big, perfect waves brings dangers (and boats) along the way.

Surfing between icebergs

This historic expedition by Mick Fanning and Mason Ho somewhere in the Arctic Circle brought laughter, numb body parts and a good dose of good surfing.

When the wave energy is generated by the collapse of a piece of iceberg

And Mason Ho does a board switch to ollie in the middle of ice rocks. Behind him comes Mick Fanning on a SUP, a little more conservative.

That right that Fanning surfed that "is not a wave pool"

When these images were made public in 21017, the entire world wondered where this wave was. The secret was well kept and the location was not made public.

Fanning's surfing in the clip is truly art in motion.
