Ramzi Boukhiam's words: “I did everything I could”

“I tried to stand on my board and I just couldn’t. With all the will, the positive thinking, it wasn’t enough,” said the Moroccan.

Moroccan Ramzi Boukhiam said on Instagram yesterday, after his withdrawal from the Billabong Pro Pipeline was announced, that he gave everything to be fit in time but it was not enough.

As he said: “14 days ago I had a bad injury practicing at Backdoor, preparing for my first CT event. I was very upset and had some other thoughts running through my mind, but I stayed positive and literally did everything I could with the help of the doctors and Philippe Descacq, all the right things to be ready for the start of the tour!

Unfortunately today I tried to stand on my board and I just couldn't. With all the will, the positive thinking, it wasn't enough. I think it was a very short period of time to heal.

I am really sad and angry too but I believe everything happens for a reason and I am sure something bright is coming my way soon Allah willing,” he concluded.

Boukhiam will be replaced by Carlos Muñoz who is the first substitute on the circuit as determined by the WSL and now the men's series are as follows:
