Tica Brisa Hennessy is the new leader of the CT ranking

She made it to the final and there is no one who can take the yellow lycra from her

By reaching the grand final of the Tahiti Pro, Costa Rican Brisa Hennessy earned enough points to climb to number 1 in the world ranking, the WSL just announced in the live broadcast.

Hennessy managed to beat Caroline Marks in the semis and had beaten Carissa Moore in the quarterfinals and with this result and the elimination of world number 1 and 2 Caitlin Simmers and Johanne Defay on day 1, 2 and 3, Molly Picklum today, everything was in place for the Costa Rican to be the new leader.

"I don't know what to say. I didn't know if I would compete again," Brisa said when she received the news, referring to the health problems she suffered last year.

Hennessy has at least 32140 guaranteed, which is 40% more than the 32100 that Caitlin Simmers has and considerably better than the 29900 that Molly Picklum and Johanne Defay are going to leave Tahiti with.

In the grand final Brisa will face local Vahine Fierro.

This is her second final in Tahiti; in 2022 she placed second behind Courtney Conlogue.
