Peruvian Tomás Tudela and shaper Darío Milano have closed a sponsorship deal after a year of distancing during which the surfer chose to try other boards. Being both in California at this time, they decided to work together again, and revive a union that proved to be very successful, especially in 2017 when with a Milano Surfboards Tomás won the South American Pipe Masters, the Maui and Sons Arica Pro after getting out of several barrels.

“We are very happy to have Tomás back on the team. He spent a year trying other boards and after that sabbatical year, taking advantage of the fact that I was shaping in California and he was coming here to the US Open, he decided to get a full quiver and return to the team,” Darío Milano told DUKE.

Meanwhile, Tudela said: “After so many lows that I have had lately, being able to trust again someone who really dedicates 100% of his time at the moment he is making a board, for me it is super special and shows me a lot about him (…) “It is super satisfying for me to reach a shaper who has given me boards that I have been on in the best moments of my career.”

Tomás has been working hard with Darío at Lowers, one of the best tracks in the world to test surfboards, they have perfected the Da Tiki model, developed especially for him and a new version of it is coming, the Da Tiki 2.0.

“The boards he’s making me in California are coming out amazing,” said Tomás, who is also using models like the Rockstar, the Prototype and the Murder in his training for the QS 3.000 that will take place in Virginia Beach, starting on August 20.

“Tomás is one of the best surfers in Peru, he has a very good style and it is very good to work with him (…) I think that this second half of the year is very good with the addition of Sofía (Mulanovich) to the Team and now Tomás. We continue looking for great talents to bring into the team,” concluded Milano, who now has two great talents of Peruvian surfing on his team.

For his part, the surfer said: “Being able to have boards made for me so that I can be on his side, designing new models and new ways of surfing based on what he already has in mind is something super favorable for me.
