Two hits from Jonathan Gubbins, somewhere in Peru today
"They felt better than ever," says the goofy footer who, due to the pandemic, went seven months without surfing solid waves like these.

The last time Jonathan Gubbins had ridden a real wave was in February; seven painful months passed until today he finally managed to get in a few decent barrels. Of these, two will remain in his memory forever.
“I think that even though I haven’t traveled this year, I really appreciate the time I’ve spent with my family, more than usual, and being in my country and riding waves of this quality when I thought they weren’t going to happen until the northern floods,” Gubbins told DUKE.
“They felt better than ever. The new boards were great, with a little more clearance than I usually used,” he added. He also pointed out that he thought he already had the very long tube that he couldn’t get out of.
On the second tube, he said, "I thought I had it," but it ended up being a no-go. Still, the ride was amazing.
Finally, he reflected that he hopes this is a sign that the ordeal of the pandemic and all its negative consequences is coming to an end.
