Wavegarden expands into Japan
Through an alliance with a development group, seven wave pools will be installed in the next seven years in different regions of the country
Japan will be building seven Wavegarden wave pools over the next seven years, the Basque artificial wave technology company said on its website.
The partnership with Japanese developer JPF is key to this expansion. Established in 1957, the company reportedly holds the record for operating six cycling stadiums and one motorcycle stadium in the country. They have held several cycling events, both for children and professionals, and are representatives of five Olympic athletes from the last Tokyo Olympics.
Within the company they have established a division specialized in the development of surfing parks.
Wavegarden is already present in Asia, as it has been operating what they call “the largest surf park in the world”, located in Seoul, South Korea, since 2020.
Wavegarden also arrived in Latin America this year, opening in Brazil in July. Meanwhile, Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States have projects in the pre-construction or construction phase.
Another 47 projects are being studied around the world.
