Without John John is not the same

The Margaret River Pro became 50 times less fun with the withdrawal of the Hawaiian

I look forward to WSL CT events with great excitement, a day with a championship generates expectations and then fun. If the event has waves, like Margaret River, even better.

Once the championship starts, it can become increasingly fanatical and closer to the bottom. The waves are a big factor: there should be consequences, there should be fear, it should be clear who is willing and who would prefer the championship to have smaller waves.

The surfers who are still in the race are also key. Kelly not being there or losing takes away a lot of the appeal of the championship, John John not being there is the same, not both of them being there… It doesn't bring it to the bottom of the Margaret River Pro, but it brings it quite close.

They save the waves of the west and the fact that the rest of those competing are very interesting surfers: Jordy (who passed with dubious form) but has his magic, Callinan who is not afraid to put the board in those heavy lips of the west, Moniz who is a young and very brave Hawaiian, McGilvray who is a classy South African and the new Toledo who gained weight and has greatly improved his power surfing and his lines.

The latter will also face Italo Ferreira, who must win to catch up with Medina, who is watching him from the outside.

Having said all this, I still want to reiterate: The fact that the best in the world is not in the championship has made it 50 times more boring. How much will those corners be missed, and not to mention that if it is decided in The Box, it will be missed even more.
