WSL announced: The first replacement for CT 2023 is Carlos Muñoz
The Costa Rican receives great news; the WSL handpicked the first substitute for the elite and not by ranking
Costa Rican Carlos Muñoz is the first replacement for the 2023 CT, the WSL reported in a statement sent to the press tonight, Thursday.
Muñoz, who suffered a shoulder injury at the start of the 2022 tour at Pipe, missed the rest of the circuit and was only able to compete as a guest at the CT in El Salvador, when he was still experiencing discomfort.
Despite not having achieved any significant results in the challenger series he competed in, the WSL seems to have taken into account the weight of Muñoz's name due to his injury and put him first in line when it came to choosing substitutes for the CT.
In a tour in which there are many absences from event to event, this news is huge for the Costa Rican.
In comparison, in the women's category, the first replacement was given to Teresa Bonvalot, who was the first not to qualify for the CT through the challengers. In the case of the men, Dylan Moffat, 11th in the men's ranking, but to the Costa Rican.
In this case, the arbitrariness of the WSL was used in favor of the Costa Rican and not the ranking.
