Everything indicates that the world tour will return to the waves of Punta Rocas in November, as announced by the WSL in a press release sent last Sunday after the conclusion of the Huanchaco stage.
“The WSL South America regional ranking classifies those who are in the first two positions for the World Surf League Junior World Championship, which has been held in California for the past two years. Arena Rodríguez Vargas has already confirmed her name and Catalina Zariquiey is in second place in the ranking, but this other position will only be decided in the last stage, scheduled for November in the waves of Punta Rocas, in southern Peru,” the statement says.
The stage is not listed in the WSL calendar for the pro junior category, but it is listed as a tentative stage in the QS. The men's and women's QS are scheduled to take place between November 13 and 17; it is listed as tentative.
This would be the fourth time the WSL has visited Peru this year; it has been in Señoritas, Lobitos, Huanchaco and now it would return to Punta Rocas.
It would also be the third consecutive year that Punta Rocas has held a WSL event; it had one in November 2022, April 2023 and now November 2024.
