The WSL announced last Thursday that the points scale for its events will be adjusted, with the 1000 points now being 2000 points, the 3000 points being 4000 points and the 5000 points being 6000 points.

As they explain: “The adjustment aims to create a more balanced qualification landscape, giving athletes a clearer path to qualify for the Challenger Series and ultimately the Championship Tour (CT).”

It will be implemented, or changes will be seen, from April 2025.

“This new structure reduces the points disparity between event tiers, ensuring that these competitions contribute more meaningfully to an athlete’s qualification campaign for the Challenger Series. Under the new system, QS2,000, QS4,000 and QS6,000 events will replace the previous QS1,000, QS3,000 and QS5,000 tiers, reducing the points disparity from five to three times between the lowest and highest tier events. The aim of this change is to create a more competitive and sustainable system that benefits both athletes and event partners,” the statement said.

In other words, the top event, which previously awarded five times as many points, now awards three times as many, and the one that previously awarded three times as many points now awards double.

And the distance between the middle one and the largest one becomes smaller now.
