An all-time classic that will never go out of style and combines power surfing with innovation in one maneuver. The layback is one of my favorite maneuvers and something I recommend everyone to have in their repertoire.

Tip 1: To start it off right, you need to have a section with a wall that will push you forward once the maneuver is done.
Tip 2: We can't run it anywhere on the wave.
Tip 3: Keep your gaze forward, but keep your board facing the pocket.
Tip 4: Here my arm is helping me not to go completely backwards.
Tip 5: Something basic: Keep the board under our center of gravity, where we have control of everything.
Tip 6: Board at center of gravity + front arm pointing forward
Tip 7: And always compress yourself to finish the maneuvers well.
